
KUALA LUMPUR: It was a special night for Adibah Noor who won three awards, including best vocals, with her song Terlalu Istimewa at the Anugerah Juara Lagu 21 last night.
The song, composed by Azlan Abu Hassan with lyrics by Adibah, was named best song and best ballad.
Adibah’s first awards brought loud cheers from the large crowd at Stadium Bukit Jalil.
"This win goes out to all my fans and supporters, especially to the family of Nurul Huda Abdul Ghani, (for whom the song was written and to whom it is dedicated)," she said.
Warkah Buat Laila, composed by Ayob Ibrahim with lyrics by Habsah Hassan and performed by Zahid of Akademi Fantasia 2, emerged winner in the "Irama Malaysia dan Etnik Kreatif" category.
Veteran singer M. Nasir took home the prize in the Pop/Rock category with his song Juwita Citra Terindah, which he also composed.
Adibah took home a total of RM37,000 while M. Nasir and Zahid received RM12,000 each.
Best performance of the evening went to Hazami, who went home with RM10,000 for his rendering of Mungkir Bahagia.
Anugerah Juara Lagu 21 was telecast "live" over TV3.
The awards were presented by Media Prima chairman Datuk Abdul Mutalib Mohd Razak and chief executive officer of television networks Datuk Farid Ridzuan.
